Cruise description
Our first trip in 2026 begins in Ipswich. On the day of arrival, we will conduct a safety briefing on board, discuss the trip to London and buy provisions for the journey. If it is not too late, we can move on to Half Penny Pier in Harwich. The following morning, we will head out onto the North Sea and past many shoals to Ramsgate. We will spend the night in Ramsgate, with its morbid charm. Then, hopefully with good wind, we will sail into the Thames Estuary. We plan to anchor the following night. There are good anchorages at Sheerness and on the River Medway. Now we will sail up the Thames with the rising tide. We can navigate to Tower Bridge and then moor at Greenwich Yacht Club, where these sea trials end. If you would like to spend a few more days in London afterwards, I can offer you accommodation on the Blue Cruise. Or, if you have the time and inclination, you can continue sailing with us.
Arrival and departure
Embarkation: On the day of arrival by 3 p.m. Ipswich is easily accessible by car, plane and/or train.
Disembarkation: On the morning after arrival at the destination, after a good breakfast and general tidying up (approx. 10 a.m.). London is very easily accessible by plane, train or car.
Tip: If you would like to spend a few more days in London afterwards, I can offer you accommodation on the SY Blue Cruise (€40/night plus pro-rata harbour fees).

Trip description
The next two weeks around Easter will take us from London to Edinburgh. This first week will involve many nautical miles, including a night voyage. On the day of arrival, we will hold the mandatory safety briefing on board, discuss the trip and stock up on provisions for the journey. With the tide beginning to ebb, we will leave London around noon and sail down the Thames. We will anchor for the first night at Sheerness on the River Medway and head for Harwich the next day. After Harwich, there will be a long stretch to Grimsby (approx. 150 nautical miles) or directly to Scarborough (approx. 180 nautical miles). We will decide based on the wind and weather and will sail through the night. Scarborough is a coastal town with a rich history, as are the other towns on the east coast such as Whitby, Hartlepool and Newcastle. While the coastline to Grimsby is still flat, from Flamborough Head onwards it becomes an impressive cliff coastline along the North York Moors National Park. With a bit of luck, we will also be able to spot whales and dolphins. After about 270 nautical miles, we reach our destination, Hartlepool.
Arrival and departure
Embarkation: Check-in at 3 p.m. on the day of arrival.
Disembarkation: Check-out on the morning after arrival, after a hearty breakfast and general tidying up (around 10 a.m.). Hartlepool/Newcastle have good transport connections (train, plane).
If you would like to spend a few days in London beforehand, I can offer you accommodation on the SY Blue Cruise (€40/night + pro-rata harbour fees).

Cruise description
Our cruise around the Easter weekend takes us from London to Edinburgh. In this second week, we will follow the east coast of England to Edinburgh. On the first day, we will receive safety instructions on board, discuss the trip and buy provisions for the journey. Over the following days, we will sail along the coast of Northumberland, stopping in places such as Blyth or anchoring overnight at locations such as the Farne Islands or Holy Islands of Lindisfarne. From now on, we are in Scotland. At Dunbar, we turn west into the Firth of Forth. Now we are about 30 nautical miles from our destination, Edinburgh. Perhaps we will find time for a detour to the Isle of May, a nature reserve managed by Scottish National Heritage.

Trip description
During the week of 1 May, our route will take us from Edinburgh to Wick, the springboard to the Orkneys and Shetlands in the following weeks. We have approximately 230 nautical miles ahead of us. I am hoping for good weather and favourable winds from the south so that we can sail north smoothly. On the first day, we will have the mandatory safety briefing on board, discuss the trip and buy provisions for the journey. From the second day onwards, we will sail via the Isle of May to Arbroath, then on via Peterhead and Buckies to Wick. It is likely that we will be sailing at night.

Cruise description
On the following cruises, we will sail around and through the Orkney and Shetland archipelagos. The SY Blue Cruise will explore this area for five weeks. Breathtaking landscapes and coastlines await us. This week, our destination is Kirkwall, the main town of the Orkney Islands on Mainland. In Wick, we will receive safety instructions on board, discuss the trip and buy provisions for the journey. Then we will head north. We will have plenty of time to explore the islands and bays of the Orkneys. This is an exciting area where we can expect tidal currents of up to 12 knots (Pentland Firth east exit), among other things. We will therefore choose our sailing times carefully. Not only wind and weather, but also powerful tidal currents determine the sailing days.
Arrival and departure
Embarkation: Check-in at 3 p.m. on the day of arrival. Wick is easily accessible by train or plane.
Disembarkation: After arriving at your destination, following a hearty breakfast and general tidying up (around 10 a.m.).

Trip description
On the day of arrival, we will hold a safety briefing on board, discuss the trip and buy provisions for the journey. We will leave Kirkwall the following morning. We could sail the 100 nautical miles to Lerwick in two daily stages, but we should take our time to explore this beautiful island world. We will sail to some of the islands. If you would like to get a taste of what to expect in advance, we recommend visiting https://www.orkneymarinas.co.uk/ and https://www.shetland.org/. Halfway between the Orkney and Shetland Islands lie the Fair Isles, characterised by their dominant, inaccessible cliffs. We may stop there on the crossing to reach Lerwick on Ascension Day (or Father's Day), according to the plan.

In the week before Pentecost, we will sail from Lerwick through the unique sounds of this island landscape, the Shetland Sounds with approx. 100 islands. The plan is to circumnavigate the northern tip of Holm of Scaw and Muckle Flugga. On the first day in Lerwick, we will hold a safety briefing on board, discuss the trip and the planned route, and buy provisions for the journey. At this time of year, the sun only sets briefly, the days are long and there is an endless amount to discover (https://www.shetland.org/).

Trip description
This Whitsun week is a continuation of the previous weeks. We continue to sail around the beautiful Shetland and Orkney Islands. On the day of arrival, we will have a safety briefing on board, discuss the trip route and buy provisions for the journey. At the end of the week, we should be back in Kirkwall, the capital of the Orkney Islands. In between, we are free to decide which bays and islands to sail to, where to anchor and spend the night, and where to go ashore for excursions. Only the weather, the wind and the strong tidal currents influence our planning.

Trip description
On the day of arrival, we will of course conduct a safety briefing on board, discuss the trip and buy provisions for the journey. One possible route suggestion would be to sail from Kirwall to Stromness and on to Scrabster on the Scottish mainland. From Scrabster, it is an exciting 35 nautical miles through the Inner Sound of the Pentland Firth around Dunscansby Head to Wick. In the Pentland Firth, you have to expect the unexpected, say the locals. Strong tidal currents of up to 9 knots and eddies determine the route. This route can only be sailed in the best weather conditions and requires careful preparation. Alternatively, there is also a route to Wick that bypasses the Pentland Firth. Let's let the weather and the wind decide. Five fantastic weeks of sailing through the northernmost islands of the United Kingdom come to an end in Wick.

Cruise description
On the day of arrival in Wick, we will receive safety instructions on board, discuss the cruise and buy provisions for the trip. Then we will head south to Inverness, or more precisely Clachnaharry, the entrance to the Caledonian Canal. It is necessary to register in good time if you don't want to wait several days in Inverness for passage. More information about the Caledonian Canal can be found at www.scottishcanals.co.uk. So we will try to do this before setting sail in Wick. On the way to Inverness, there are some beautiful places along the east coast of Scotland. Hopefully we will have good weather this summer, as the Scottish fog makes everything invisible. Chanonry Narrow, a few miles before Inverness, is one of the best places in Scotland to watch dolphins. We will pass this point and see if it's true. Now it's 60 miles through the Caledonian Canal, through Loch Ness, Loch Oich and Loch Lochy to Corpach near Ft. William. We are taking plenty of time for this passage to soak up the surrounding Highlands, at least three or four days. With Ft. Williams, we have arrived in the Southern Hebrides on the west side of Scotland. Now it's another 30 nautical miles to Orban. If we have days to spare, it's worth making a detour to the Sound of Mull or sailing around the island of Mull.

Cruise description
From Orban, the journey continues south and west to Belfast. On the day of arrival, we will receive safety instructions on board, discuss the trip and buy provisions for the journey. The following days will be spent sailing in the Hebrides, through sounds and fjords along the coast. We will first circumnavigate the Isle of Mull and then moor in Crinan, the entrance to the Crinan Canal. https://www.scottishcanals.co.uk/boating/canal-travel/crinan-canal-skippers-guide. The Crinan Canal is nine miles long and has 15 locks and 7 bridges to pass through. It was built between 1793 and 1801 and is certainly one of the many highlights of this trip. Adrishaig is located at the other end of the Crinan Canal. We leave the Crinan Canal. There are many small harbours and bays along our route and we can decide spontaneously where we want to moor. On the penultimate day, we sail across the North Channel to Larne and are now in Ireland. It is now about 22 nautical miles to Belfast, the end of this trip.
If you would like to spend a few days in Belfast afterwards, I can offer you accommodation on the SY Blue Cruise (€40/night).

Cruise description
Ireland and the Isle of Man are the highlights of this cruise. On the day of arrival in Belfast, we will conduct a safety briefing on board, discuss the cruise and buy provisions for the trip. It is about 60 nautical miles to the northern tip of the Isle of Man. We can choose whether to sail to the Isle of Man via a more northerly route or a slightly southerly route. In any case, we want to sail around the island in daily stages and spend the nights in the harbours. Every spring, this island hosts a spectacle that is unique in the world, the TT Trophy, a road motorcycle race for ‘madmen’. We will be spared this and will have plenty of time to get to know the island and its special features. We have planned about four days for the circumnavigation, then we will sail on towards our destination of Dublin, where we are scheduled to arrive after about 230 nautical miles.

Cruise description
Wales is the theme of this cruise. We start in Dublin, Ireland. On the day of arrival, we will of course hold a safety briefing on board, discuss the trip and buy provisions for the journey. There are basically two alternatives for the route on this trip: Either we first follow the beautiful Irish east coast southwards in stages to Waxford on the south-east corner of Ireland. From there, we will head to Milford Haven in Wales. Or we will immediately cross the Irish Sea to Holyhead on Holy Island, an island off Ynys Mon. In this case, we will then follow the Welsh coast south to Milford Haven. We will choose the route based on the wind and weather conditions. From Milford Haven, we will follow the south Welsh coast into the Bristol Channel to our destination, Cardiff.

To the south of us lies Exmoor National Park, and from Bulls Point we follow the Cornish coast to Lands End. We pass the coastal towns of Northam, Padstow, Newquay, Hayle and St. Ives before rounding Lands End after approximately 180 nautical miles. Our destination is Penzance, a fashionable seaside resort at the western entrance to the English Channel. Nearby (approx. 2 miles) are the romantic fishing village of Mousehole and the English version of Mont Saint Michel, St. Michael's Mount. From Penzance, it is another 40 nm to Hugh Town, the main town of the Scilly Isles.

This trip almost feels like being on the Mediterranean coast. The warm Gulf Stream ensures a mild climate all year round. The flora and fauna along the coast reflect this. On the day of arrival in Hugh Town, we will hold a safety briefing on board, discuss the trip and buy provisions for the journey. The next day, we will sail south of the TSS Lands End traffic separation scheme to Penzance. This bay is also home to the enchanting village of Mousehole and St. Michael's Mount, the English counterpart to Mont Saint Michelle in Normandy, France. We continue in one stage to Falmouth and then to St Austell and Mevagissey. It is recommended to stay there for a day to see The Lost Garden of Heligan (link to more information) or visit The Eden Project (link to more information). Our next stage takes us to Plymouth, the destination of this beautiful sailing week.

Trip description
On the day of arrival in Plymouth, we will hold a safety briefing on board, discuss the trip and buy provisions for the journey. Our first leg takes us to Dartmouth. Inland lies Dartmoor National Park, an impressive high moor. We leave Exmouth, the coasts of East Devon and Dorset on our left and cross Lyme Bay to Portland. We moor in the Olympic harbour of Wymouth/Portland. In the past, ship safety training, Basic Operational Sea Training, took place here at the Flag Officer Sea Training (BOST at FOST). I was able to take part twice. If the weather is good, we can alternatively anchor in the beautiful bays of Dorset (Lulworth Cove, Worbarrow Bay, Chapman's Pool). The next stage takes us to Yarmouth on the Isle of Wight. On the last day of this trip, we will make the passage through the Solent to Southampton. Those who enjoy tidal navigation will have many opportunities on this trip to determine the optimal passage times. A lot of commercial traffic is to be expected in the Solent, so an exciting passage is guaranteed.

This is the last leg of the ‘England circumnavigation’. On the day of arrival in Southampton, we will hold a safety briefing on board and discuss the trip. We will stock up on provisions for the journey. We may move to Cowes (10 nm) on the River Medina on the Isle of Wight on the same day. From there, it is approximately 110 nm to Dover, which we could cover in three daily stages: Shoreham (Brighton) 45 nm, Eastbourne 25 nm, Dover 45 nm. In any case, we will have to sail in the ITZ (Inshore Traffic Zone) from Shoreham to Dover, as this is where the traffic separation zone for the eastern exit of the English Channel/North Sea begins. Once we arrive in Dover, there is a very good Indian restaurant where we can conclude our trip.

Your experiences......
- You will sail on a 50-foot yacht on the North Sea,
- visit interesting places such as Bruges,
- and practise tidal navigation, sailing, harbour and safety manoeuvres.
Cruise description
On the day of arrival, we will hold a safety briefing on board, discuss the trip and buy provisions for the journey. From Dover, we will sail across the Channel towards Calais. We will let the weather decide whether we moor in Calais or Dunkirk. Like so many places, Dunkirk gained sad notoriety during the Second World War. Back to the here and now: Dunkirk, like Calais, has a remarkable town hall. Of course, it is also possible to sail through the night to Zeebrugge. From there, it takes about an hour to reach Bruges. Bruges is definitely worth a visit, but Ghent is also worth seeing. The Dutch railway takes us to these medieval towns in no time, where we can devote ourselves to sightseeing. We relax with a visit to Bruges or Ghent or a trip on the ‘het Kusttam’. From Zeebrugge, ‘het Kusttram’ runs, a tram along the North Sea coast via Ostend to De Panne on the French border. The trip is unique, inexpensive and highly recommended, especially if you want to see the sailing route from land. On Friday, we reach our destination port of Scheveningen, where this beautiful week of sailing ends.
Arrival and departure
Embarkation: Check in at Dover at 3 p.m.
Disembarkation: On the morning after arrival at destination, after a good breakfast and general tidying up (approx. 10 a.m.). The Hague (Scheveningen) is easily accessible by car or train.
